Pro B: Nothing is going well in Saint-Chamond

Saint-Chamond conceded a tenth defeat against Evreux (84-86), the sixth at home, and finds himself in danger.

For Saint-Chamond, the seasons follow each other and are not at all alike. Able to go up to Betclic Elite last spring, Alain Thinet’s men will have to be careful not to go down to National 1 in a few months. This would have a very bad effect when the club has become the resident of a (beautiful) Arena which will host the Leaders Cup in February.

Against Evreux, the Couramiauds nevertheless led by 14 points (71-57) seven minutes from the end, but they suddenly lost all their means against a team where Ilias Karmardine flamed (18 points at 7/8 on shots and 6 rebounds with a decisive basket).

“It’s professional misconduct tonight. You have to be aware that you are putting the club at risk”, summed up Mathieu Guichard, at a press conference, reports Progress. “When we feel Évreux come back, we play with fear in attack. And this fear makes everyone stay in their bubble instead of standing up and staying together.

The direct consequence is that Evreux, with one match less, totals the same number of successes as Saint-Chamond, La Rochelle, Saint-Vallier and Gries-Souffel, and one more than Aix-Maurienne. The struggle promises to be tough and stressful.
