The DJB advertises the German Championships as the absolute highlight of the judo year. With Maximilian Heyder (JC Naila), the figurehead of the Bavarian Judo Association and the officer of the Bavarian Police for the promotion of top-class sports, is trying to make the big, national hit: title number 5 in a row in the weight class up to 60 kg! It would be a strong exclamation mark and historic success for the likeable athlete who trains every day at the Munich federal base. A title is not only possible for him, the Bavarian Judo Association has a strong field of participants at the weekend in Stuttgart.

Seija Ballhaus, Samira Bock, Raffaela Igl, Bettina Bauer, Bertille Murphy, Mina Ricken, the Grünewald sisters, Severin Edmeier, Patrick Weisser, Kevin Abeltshauser, Schamil Dzavbatyrov, Lukas Vennekold, Timo Cavelius, Fabian Kansy, Johann Lenz, Kilian Kappelmeier, Dario In Kurbjeweit Garcia there are many other athletes who are starting and have a good chance of placing accordingly.

The BJV wishes its athletes, the state and base trainers as well as club trainers a successful weekend for the important location determination and presentation of the performance. “In addition to Maxmilian Heyder, other defending champions from Bavaria are in the starting blocks and many up-and-coming youngsters will try to place themselves accordingly in order to increase their chances of international assignments. We are convinced of the potential and the chances of the Bavarian judoka!” comments Managing Director Florian Ellmann on the prospects for the German Championships in 2023.
