Premier League: Chelsea FC paid 100 million transfer fee too much! How can this happen? – FOOTBALL

How broken are the prices in the Premier League?!

Current example: The England newspaper “The Sun” just listed how much above market value Chelsea FC paid for its five winter signings. Believe it or not, 100 million euros!

Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly (49) has already invested more than 450 million euros in new stars since buying the club last year. In the past three weeks alone, there were 200 million. And – as the Sun proves – actually 100 million too many!

Five young talents came. Molde striker David Datro Fofana (20) is the only one the Blues got at a reasonable price. According to transfermarkt.de, the 12 million euro transfer fee corresponds almost exactly to his market value.

Chelsea paid Monaco 40 million euros for defensive jewel Benoit Badiashile (21/37 million euros market value) – still within reason. Not so with the West Londoners’ other three deals.

Ukraine star Mykhailo Mudryk (22) was overpaid the most. Chelsea agreed to pay the €100m demanded by Shakhtar Donetsk. With a current market value of “only” 40 million – a risky bet on his sporting development.

In addition, the commitment of former Tottenham homegrown Noni Madueke (20) from PSV Eindhoven was bagged on Sunday. Market value: 15 million euros. Transfer fee: 40 million!

The Blues also signed Brazilian prodigy Andrey Santos, 18, from Brazil club Vasco da Gama earlier this month. 20 million transfer fee with a current market value of 10 million

On top of that, Portugal striker Joao Felix (23) was loaned out by Atlético Madrid for 12 million until the end of the season.

Seems Chelsea are VERY confident in the development potential of their new acquisitions. Otherwise Boehly and his board would hardly have waved these overpriced deals through.

It is also clear that the Blues would probably not have gotten their desired players at the market price. When England’s top clubs stuffed with TV money call, football executives around the world already have the dollar signs in their eyes.

Now that Chelsea have paid double the money for their new boys, the five must now show that they will soon be worth twice their current market value.
