Pilsen was strengthened by Honejsek and Beránek, Malát and Lang left

“Martin Lang didn’t play that much this year and he didn’t do very well. Maybe it was a bit in his head and this change can start him up. Tonda is an experienced boy and a productive player, strong on the puck and excellent on the power play. We believe that at the end of the season we can really help,” said Pilsen sports manager Tomáš Vlasák.

Honejsek played 542 matches in the extra league, scored 121 goals and added 169 assists. In addition to Zlín, in whose jersey he won the championship in 2014, he also played for Hradec Králové and Brno. In the current season, he played for the Rams in 40 games, scored 11 goals and recorded 18 assists.

“I definitely take the engagement in Pilsen as a big challenge. I want to prove myself. Every hockey player working in the Czech Republic wants to play in the Extraliga. Moreover, after the two not-so-successful years that have just been, I want to start somewhere again,” said Honejsek.

Twenty-one-year-old Lang played 32 games for Pilsen in the season and recorded a goal and an assist. He also scored ten starts in the second league in the Klatov jersey.

Beside Honejsk, Beránek, who is ten years younger, will be a new face in Pilsen. Malát, who had previously signed a contract with Středočechy with effect from next season, is heading to Mladá Boleslav instead. “That’s why when we had the opportunity to exchange him for Martin Beránek, whom we’ve been watching for a long time, we decided to do it,” said Vlasák.

Malát’s earlier arrival was also welcomed in the Central Bohemian club. “We expect from him a further revitalization of the team, in short, an impulse. In addition, it also represents an extension to the next season for us. The coaches will see him earlier and there will be room to incorporate him into our system,” said sports director Martin Ševc.

The 20-year-old Malát has 124 games and 26 points (11+15) in the extra league. In the current season, the former youth representative scored four goals and seven assists. A year older, Beránek played 131 matches in the extra league with a record of 16+11. He will return to Mladá Boleslav after the season. “It will be another experience for Bery. We hope that he will have more games in Pilsen and that we will welcome him back in May,” Ševc said.
