Peter Bol, Olympic finalist in the 800m, tested positive for EPO

The Australian tested positive for EPO and defended himself on social media.

Australian half-founder Peter Bol, world and Olympic finalist in the 800m, has been suspended after testing positive for EPO, but maintains his “innocence”, he said on Friday. Australian athletics boss Peter Bromley has announced the 28-year-old tested positive for EPO following a swab in October, and is being suspended pending analysis of the B sample .

Peter Bol finished 4th in the final of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 before taking 7th place in the world final of the Worlds in Eugene (Oregon) in July 2022, then the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in August. With a best time of 1 min 44 sec 00 achieved in June 2022 in Paris, he holds the Oceania record for the 800 m. “I am innocent, I have never taken the substance mentioned”, defended the runner on his social networks.
