“Not in the least up for discussion”: Bobic strengthens Black’s back | table football

Hertha BSC suffered their heaviest defeat of the season against Wolfsburg. Fredi Bobic then spoke of a phased “underground” performance of the penultimate. Nevertheless, coach Sandro Schwarz is firmly in the saddle.

“The first half was the worst I’ve seen this season and the players know that too.” With this sentence Fredi Bobic, Managing Director Sport of Hertha BSC, gave a deep look right at the beginning after the 0:5 against VfL Wolfsburg at “Sky”. The former striker went further and called the first half ‘really underground’. The duels were not accepted, the professionals in turn stood next to themselves, allowed “simple goals” – and “didn’t rebel against it”. The wolves’ form or not: “We just ran around headless.”

The first half was the worst I’ve seen this season.

The fact that the old lady had suffered her highest defeat of the season was not so decisive. Rather, the focus was on non-performance before the break, including with coach Sandro Schwarz. Nevertheless, he said a little bravely: “We got a real slap in the face today, but there’s still a long way to go.” 17th place at the end of the first half of the season was “not a great situation, but one that can be solved”.

At the end of the last half of the season, Hertha had seven more points

And this is still Black’s job, Bobic made no secret of that. The confidence in the coach is “very big”, despite only 14 points after 17 games. For comparison: Last season, Hertha BSC had seven more points at the same time.

However, Bobic made it clear to Schwarz: “For me, he is not even remotely up for discussion.” This is due to the “really exciting games at times” under the ex-Mainzer, and the mood in the team also speaks for Black. In fact, Hertha are “rightly down there” because of the score, but: “We have no thoughts that we will get into a situation at some point. No, we’re going through with it.”

“For the boys” the next few days will be “very hard”

Above all, Hertha’s players should quickly internalize the last sentence before the derby against Union on Saturday (3.30 p.m., LIVE! at kicker). After five defeats in the last six Bundesliga games, according to Bobic, it is important “not to be so upset again” as on Tuesday evening. This is “something that needs to be addressed” in the next few days, which will be “very hard, also for the boys. We will address this clearly so that they are physically and mentally up for Saturday.”
