New perspectives and return to the origin

I haven’t posted in a long time. There are several reasons, but mainly I believe that current technology already offers me everything I need and I have the feeling that buying something new is a waste of money. The Garmin Forerunner 945 has everything I dreamed of having a few years ago: very low weight, large screen, reliability, acceptable battery life, up to 7 fields per screen, quick-change straps, music, notifications, performance metrics, specific support for the bike… I have yet to publish an entry about the FR945 (which I don’t know if it will ever arrive), but I don’t want to deviate from the topic of this entry.

For about two and a half years I have been suffering frequently and with different intensities, pain in the area of the left pyramidal when running and riding a road bike. I tried several treatments, but since I felt some relief and started training again seriously (within my amateur level) the pain returned with intensity that affected my daily life and my work. Although I have never stopped doing sports, I started doing it completely recreationally and without going to competitions.

Basically I’m back to “my origins”. I never liked competitions. I have never taken popular races as a competition but rather as the possibility of doing what I like surrounded by many people who like the same thing. For this reason, stopping going to races is not a burden for me. What I always liked is doing sports and being in shape.

return to origin

There was a time long gone when running for me was simply a way to stay in shape to be able to do other sports and to clear my mind. It also allowed me to control my weight without having to make many sacrifices at mealtime. In those years, apart from running, the sports he practiced the most were sport climbing and windsurfing. I had a VW California and the years I lived in Tenerife, whenever there was wind and waves I played windsurfing and on weekends, climbing in the morning and windsurfing in the afternoon. Running was only for weekdays when there was no wind and waves after work. Apart from that I also practiced Aikido, swam in the pool occasionally and went on at least 3 week long ski trips to the mainland during the winter.

I feel like I needed to go back again to not being so focused on one sport but to diversify and enjoy all those activities that I already control. I’m on my way to get it.

I have climbed again. This time the motivation to start training has been given to me by the children. The oldest, at 8 years old, is at the age where he can climb some routes. We also take the little ones (4 years old) and even if they don’t climb, I pull them up with the rope and they are so happy. I have built a climbing wall at home and we all spend a lot of time training together.

PS: On second thought, maybe it hasn’t changed at all… ????
