New Jupiler Pro League season starts on July 28, only 4 instead of 7 calendar updates throughout the season | Jupiler Pro League

The Supercup kicks off the new season on the weekend of July 21. The first competition match in the Jupiler Pro League is scheduled for Friday 28 July. That means there are 8 weeks between the end of the current competition (June 4) and the start of the next one.

The regular competition lasts 30 match days, with a longer winter break between December 28 and January 18 and culminates in the weekend of March 15, 2024. Two weeks later, on March 29, the play-offs start. At the latest on Sunday 26 May, we will know who will be crowned national champion.

Next Sunday Genk and Seraing will play the very last match on Sunday at 9 pm. Also in the new season there will no longer be played so late in the weekend.

In addition, the Pro League has listened to the fans when it comes to communicating the kick-off times late.

“That is why next season we are investing in greater predictability with 4 instead of 7 calendar updates during the season,” said Lorin Parys, the CEO of the Pro League. “At the end of June, early September, mid-December and in the third week of March before the play-offs, we communicate the kick-off times of the matches. This way our fans can better plan their agenda with football in mind.”

Midweek football will also be reduced, which is possible because only 16 clubs will play in 1A next season. “We’ve narrowed it down to the bare minimum, which is 2.”
