Naples wins against Roma (2-1) by José Mourinho thanks to Victor Osimhen and Giovanni Simeone

Naples, always stronger. After the slap received by Milan, crushed at home by Sassuolo (2-5), the leader of Serie A had the opportunity to widen the gap a little more at the top of the classification during the clash against AS Roma, this Sunday. Mission accomplished in pain thanks to a sublime goal from Victor Osimhen and another at the end of the match signed Giovanni Simeone (2-1). Luciano Spalletti’s men are now thirteen points ahead of Inter, their new runner-up, while the Louve loses for the first time in 2023 and drops to 6th place.

A controlled derby and Naples continue their breakaway

Even jostled, even hooked, this Naples there seems unsinkable and looks more and more like the future champion. Roma probably thought they had done the hardest part by equalizing thanks to El Shaarawy in a scenario identical to last year (1-1, 75th). But this time, the locals managed to regain the advantage. Coming off the bench, Simeone capsized the Diego Armando Maradona stadium with a left shot at the entrance to the unstoppable area for Rui Patricio (2-1, 86th).

Dazzling Osimhen

This fourth league victory in a row is also the work of another striker. Osimhen, top scorer in Serie A, dazzled the meeting with a sublime sequence: on a cross from Kvaratskhelia, back after two missed matches, the Nigerian controlled with his chest, touched the ball with his knee before arming a resumption of volley in the skylight (1-0, 17th).

Less sovereign in the second period, the Neapolitans still had opportunities to make the break but Kvaratskhelia and Lozano lacked lucidity (55th and 63rd). By dint of leaving the ball to the Romans, they therefore cracked on a goal from El Shaaraway quicker than Lozano in the six meters (1-1, 75th). But this season, Naples is in no doubt and has found the resources to sign a new success in the quest for a first title in 33 years which is getting closer day after day.
