The green of the square debuts this Monday visiting Avellaneda Central. His coach Lucas Vega analyzed the reinforcements that arrived, rivals from the NOA area and goals for the 2023 season.
Asociación Miter puts this 2023 first. With a squad and renewed illusions, the green of the square begins a new season in La Liga Federal, the third category of Argentine basketball, with the expectation of repeating the great performance in the 2022 tournament. The start of the The official season for the green will be this Monday, January 30 when they visit Avellaneda Central from 10 p.m., while they will make their home debut on Thursday, February 9 against Jujuy Basket.
The last tournament had a Miter leader of the Northwest division, reaching the playoffs among the 16 best teams in the category and among the 8 best in the Northern Conference, with a record of 16-5 between the regular season and the playoffs.
For this new season, the green went to the transfer market in search of reinforcements to replace the casualties of the last squad and players who rank the team, which will continue under the technical direction of Lucas Vega. The santiagueños, Tomás Trucco and Ignacio Paz arrived to reinforce the base along with Leonel Madedo from Tafico. Agustín Najul will have a new step through the Belgrano Avenue institution playing in the perimeter area. Ignacio Corbalán joins the green ranks as that mixed player between the perimeter and the paint. While Matías Bonavia from Cordoba is the reinforcement for the painted area.
Those who continue to wear the Miter Association shirt after the last Federal and Pre Federal are: Luis Núñez, Jonathan Núñez, Geremías González, Benjamín Bichara, Marcos Dorgali, Mariano Gallo Torres, Lionel Montero, Micaías Dupuy, Máximo Salvatore and Lautaro Gordillo.
“It is a completely new team, with different characteristics from last year and which is currently under construction. We are finalizing the tactical adjustments for the debut. We are going to try to adapt to the characteristics of the team that has good offensive power in the perimeter and with players that can cover various positions. We want to build an identity that defines us as a team”, explained coach Lucas Vega.
Vega will continue in the technical direction, accompanied by Juan Pablo “Pollo” Flores as technical assistant. The physical preparation will be in charge of Professor Daniel Rodríguez, who will replace Professor Rodrigo Borda, and Dante “Cacho” Brizuela will continue as an assistant to the campus.
Miter will share the NOA area with 6 other teams from Tucumán: Talleres de Tafí Viejo, Belgrano, Juan Bautista Alberdi, Avellaneda Central, San Martín and the Lomas Basket-Nicolás Avellaneda Fusion. The Olympic Cyclist of La Banda, Nicolás Avellaneda and Belgrano, from Santiago will also be there, along with Jujuy Basket.
“In our area we have 1, 2 and 3 of the Pre Federal who, in addition to playing together for a long time, have strengthened themselves well, which is the case of Talleres, Belgrano and Avellaneda Central. The teams from Santiago are always competitive and one step behind is us, Alberdi and the merger that we are building,” the green DT analyzed his rivals.
Finally, Lucas Vega pointed out what a new opportunity to lead in the category means and what the experience of last season left behind: “It is an important responsibility, always grateful to the people of Asociación Miter. Now with a little more experience, already knowing the division and how it is played, we are expectant and very excited to have a good season”.
