Nashville Predators player Michael McCarron is reportedly set to return to action after taking a break for National Hockey League (NHL) help, as his name went on waivers Wednesday.

The “Preds” could send the 27-year-old to the Milwaukee Admirals in the American League to return to form, according to Sportsnet reporter Elliotte Friedman.

McCarron has not played since Dec. 8. The former Montreal Canadiens was then registered with the NHL and Players’ Association assistance program, a resource that helps players who deal with addiction and mental health issues, among others.

The NHL confirmed Wednesday that McCarron has been cleared by the program to return to action. Those in charge of the aid resource will carry out an appropriate follow-up with the player, it was clarified.

The right-winger is in his third season in Nashville. He has scored one goal and added one assist in 15 games this season.

Buffalo Sabers forward Vinny Hinostroza was also on waivers on Wednesday. The 28-year-old American has just eight assists in 19 games in 2022-23.
