The Miami Heat pulled off a feat in the NBA when they defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 112-111. The Florida franchise hits 40/40 free throws at home in the FTX Arena.
The Heat equaled the Utah Jazz record. On December 7, 1982, the Jazz also had 39 perfect attempts from the free throw line against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Jimmy Butler sunk the final and game-winning free throw with 12 seconds to go to make it 111-111. Butler is also the one who converts the most in the game with 23 free throws. With 35 points, he is also the best scorer of the game.
However, the forward misses another record. James Harden and Dirk Nowitzki hold the individual record with 24 free throws.
Warriors lose on Curry comeback
The Golden State Warriors, meanwhile, lost 113-125 to the Phoenix Suns at home. The reigning NBA champion was able to fall back on his superstar Stephen Curry.
The point guard was out of action for over a month with a shoulder injury. Despite 24 points and 5 converted threes, Curry could not avert the defeat of the Warriors.
In Los Angeles, the Clippers beat the Dallas Mavericks 113-101 at home. At the Clippers, Kawhi towers over Leonard, who brings 33 points to the floor. But the best player of the game is Luka Doncic from the Mavs, who again gives a gala performance with 43 points.
The other results from last night:
Philadelphia 76ers – Detroit Pistons 147:116
Toronto Raptors – Charlotte Hornets 132:120
Utah Jazz – Cleveland Cavaliers 116:114
Portland Trail Blazers – Orlando Magic 106:109
The Heat set a new NBA record in their win over OKC, going 40-40 from the free throw line.
