Mercato: OM-Lorient agreement for Moffi, but …

Olympique de Marseille has reached an agreement with FC Lorient for the transfer of Terem Moffi against a sum of money and Bamba Dieng. But the Marseille club must now convince the two players.

Will Moffi sign OM this winter?

The future of Terem Moffi (23) is taking shape far from Lorient, perhaps much further south. But not necessarily Nice, which had a head start in this case with an offer of 17 million euros (+ 3 M € bonus). Because Olympique de Marseille is now pushing hard to enlist the center forward from Lorient.

OM and Lorient agree to a Moffi-Dieng change

For now, Marseille has not yet completed the signing of the Nigerian international. But the case is moving in the right direction, since Foot Mercato said on Tuesday that the Marseille club has an agreement with FC Lorient for the transfer of the current second top scorer in L1 (12 goals). The latter would join OM while Marseille striker Bamba Dieng would do the opposite.

Already pushed to the exit by the Marseille management last summer, Dieng finds himself again announced on the departure. The Marseille club did not appreciate the last performances of the 22-year-old player who, for his part, shows himself to be dumb and considers that he did not have enough of a chance after the departure of Luis Suarez, which would explain his current slack. In this context, a separation seems the best option for both parties.

Players can block the operation

If OM have taken a first step in this transfer by reaching an agreement with Lorient, the hardest part may be yet to come. Because, if the Marseille leaders also have an agreement with the agent of Moffi, it still lacks the yes of the player, who imagines himself rather Nice. Faced with this situation, Marseille President Pablo Longoria is now trying to convince him to join Marseille.

But the Spaniard has to face another major problem: Dieng’s decision. While he has an oral agreement with Lorient, the Senegalese international would no longer be sure to want to go to Brittany! The reason ? The English club Everton is embedded in the file and would try to hijack the agreement between the Hakes and the African champion, who would not be against the idea of discovering the Premier League. A new soap opera in perspective?
