MAR’s first revolution

“I have slept very little and I have worked a lot. It is a dark night when I arrive and when I leave, and I have not been able to see much of the city…”, confesses Miguel Ángel Ramírez. With no time to lose and after a start that was as fast as it was bumpy, MAR opens this afternoon (4:15 p.m.) at Sporting in the League against Zaragoza in a duel that is expected to be already important, not decisive, to begin to glimpse towards where the first sports project of the Orlegi group in Mareo really walks. The owner of the group, Alejandro Irarragorri, has traveled to Gijón to support the coach on his first day in league competition.

Yesterday, in fact, the president of the Sporting board of directors, in a meeting held in Mareo, thanked the Canarian coach for his predisposition to take on the challenge at a clearly delicate moment. Orlegi’s commitment to the young coach, who was called to lead the next project starting in the summer, is clear. Even yesterday Ramírez himself dropped conversations in the press room to design the next project with the club, which has softened the importance of the cup match. The Cup came too quickly for MAR, with only one training session and in full analysis of the squad. In addition to a highly demanding duel, it was the confrontation against Valencia plus a test for what is now coming up in the league. In the absence of results, and knowing that there is still a long way to go, Orlegi’s message remains that the objective is to fight for the play-off, something that Ramírez has accepted. MAR begins against those of Fran Escribá, his particular Everest to climb positions and also to capture his groundbreaking tactical thoughts on the green. In the second half against Gattuso’s team, with everything lost, Ramírez switched to a system with three center backs, a formation that aims to be chosen in their first league match and the pattern in which they trust for the remainder of the competition.

The sports area, in fact, is looking for a central defender in the market to increase the list of defenders given the idea of forming with three defenders in the second part of the season. The new tenant of the El Molinón bench is considering a series of structural changes to give other players a chance, in a team that is also diminished by casualties: Cote is still injured, Bruno is not arriving either, Otero is suspended, while Gragera He was left out yesterday when he felt some discomfort and with Espanyol watching him closely.

They are not, in any case, the only modifications that the preparer has in mind, which could make an important revolution. If the system with three defenders is confirmed, Jordi Pola could debut as a starter in the league. Pol Valentín could also enter through Rosas. And Campuzano act as a winger, or a striker. Djuka, in fact, aims to be a substitute. Pichu Cuéllar also has serious options to recover his status as goalkeeper to the detriment of Mariño. Various changes and messages at its premiere and before facing the final stretch of the transfer market.
