Clermont lost on the lawn of Gerland against LOU on Saturday (34-14), at the start of the 16th day.

Christophe Urios would surely have wished for a better start for his first match on the Clermont band. On the lawn of the Lyonnais, ASM lost 34 to 14 and saw their opponent of the day pocketing the offensive bonus. The first minutes were however promising with a domination and a Clermont occupation. But it didn’t last more than a quarter of an hour against a more powerful Lyon side.

Despite opening the scoring thanks to a penalty from Plisson, ASM only led for 3 short minutes and then suffered the law of the Lyonnais. From half an hour into the game, it was the power of the LOU forwards that made the difference with Taoffifenua’s try (30′). Taking advantage of an excellent Tuisova, the LOU, through Veredamu (39′), will take off and will no longer be worried about the game.

The power of Lyon against the failures of Belleau

It must be said that the openers and their lack of success allowed the Lyonnais to remain calm in this meeting. Plisson and Belleau wasted no less than 11 units against the poles. And if we add to that a struggling scrum (4 times penalized), it was difficult to hope for anything for ASM. Lyon, largely dominating in this match, thought they saw the bonus slip away after Fritz Lee’s try (67′) but that was without counting on the try from one of the men of the match: Tuisova (78′). The Clermontois therefore sink in the standings and see the top 6 move away while the LOU is fully in the race for the final stages and finds itself for the moment 4th in the TOP 14.
