Lightning assaults La Cerámica

MADRID, 30 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Rayo Vallecano, with a solitary goal by Sergio Camello in the 70th minute, beat Villarreal this Monday at the Estadio de la Cerámica (0-1) in the last game of the nineteenth round of LaLiga Santander, a result that is closer to Madrid residents to the European zone.

A quick throw-in play earned the Vallecano team their second victory in the last three dates and add 29 points, two behind sixth place. The people from Castellón interrupt a streak of five rounds adding up and are left with 31 units.

In an intense first half, only a lack of aim prevented Quique Setién’s men from going ahead at halftime. Yeremi Pino, in the first minutes, warned with a cross shot that went close to the post, and before half an hour he tried again with a shot that Florian Lejeune cut.

The yellow siege continued with a double chance from Álex Baena and Étienne Capoue, on the rebound, which thwarted Stole Dimitrievski. Andoni Iraola’s team only responded on the edge of the interval with a good opportunity from Pathé Ciss’s heel that Filip Jörgensen, Pepe Reina’s substitute, repelled under the sticks.

A powerful shot to Gerard Moreno’s squad opened the second half, in which the Rayista team took oil with a throw-in; Fran García had an understanding with Trejo, who put a ball in for Sergio Camello, in the race, to open the scoring (min.70).

The Madrid striker still had the opportunity to extend the lead minutes later with a shot that went wide, before Juan Foyth requested the substitution in the 80th minute with a shoulder injury. Francis Coquelin and Gerard Moreno were close to equalizing, but finally Rayo took the three points from La Cerámica.
