Judo takes A Estrada

After two years of hiatus due to the pandemic, the Judo Club Base resumes the “Concello de A Estrada” Children’s Judo Championship. It will be on Sunday in the Coto Ferreiro pavilion. In this edition of the event, the club’s most ambitious to date, 525 children from a total of 17 clubs in Galicia and Portugal will gather.

From the province of Pontevedra, the Baixo Miño Judo Club (A Guarda), JC Campolongo (Pontevedra), Senra Vilagarcía, Judo Club Pontevedra, Judo Club Senín (Cambados), and the organizer will participate. From the province of Lugo, the JC Lugokan, the AD Judo Muralla and the Lvcvs Dojo will travel to A Estrada. From the province of A Coruña, the M. Peleteiro School (Santiago), the Vilas Alborada (Santiago), the JC Terras de Santiago, the Escuela Judo Club (Vedra), the Judo Club Hércules (A Coruña), the JC Oleiros and the San Francisco (Teo). There will be Portuguese representation with the clubs from Viana do Castelo and Ponte de Lima.

This year, for the first time, the Estrada event is part of the calendar of the Galician Judo Federation and has the collaboration and support of the entity for its celebration. It will be the first of three appointments that the federative entity has scheduled in the Concello for this 2023. On March 5, the Galician School Championship will be held in this same pavilion, from where the Galician children’s (Under 15) and cadet (Under 18) teams will come from They will represent Galicia in the Spanish School Championship. As a final party, A Estrada will host a Pre-World Senior concentration, from April 2 to 6, where the best judokas in Spain will be preparing for the world championship, and where the Galician national team will also participate.

“As usual, the City Council and its sports department are the organization’s greatest collaborators in order to move this project forward. From the first year they collaborated and put all the necessary means to make this event a success”, explains Xaquín Baldomir, president of the Judo Club Base. In addition to public institutions, the hotel and business fabric of A Estrada is also dedicated to holding this event that is supported and collaborated with by the ACOE, SBC Gasolineras, the Association of Hoteliers of A Estrada, Bar Oasis, Tiko Doco , the leisure time companies GEO and CPM, the Mimela Pastry Shop, the Cervela Bakery, the Río Liñares restaurant and the Rola Sports Center.
