Jonathan Huskey will be the Master of Ceremonies for the Field of Dreams Baseball Banquet

Veteran sportscaster Jonathan Huskey will be the master of ceremonies for the 17th Annual Claremore Field of Dreams Baseball Banquet. The fundraiser will be held on January 16th at the Claremore Conference Center, 1400 West Country Club Road.

Husky is a 14-year veteran of television sports journalism, the last six at KOTV in Tulsa. He has covered some of the biggest sporting events in the world including the College Football BCS National Championship Game, the Final Four, the Masters, the College World Series and the World Series across the country.

Guest speaker Phil Dixon. Dixon is the author of 12 Negro League history books and a popular lecturer. He was on the committee that established the Negro Leagues Museum in Kansas City.

Claremore’s own Jerome Riley will speak on the history of Negro baseball in Rogers County and Mike Sowell, author of The Pitch That Killed, will also speak at the event.

Last summer the Huskies interviewed a local Edward R. Murrow won the award. The winning story will be screened that evening.

Eight and four seater tables are available by contacting Ryan Neely at 918-341-0622. Individual seats are also possible.

Several current and former pro players will be in attendance.

The evening begins with a social hour at 5:30pm and the banquet begins at 6:30pm.

There is also a large sports memorabilia auction. Washington Nationals Play-by-Play announcer Bob Carpenter will be the guest auctioneer.

All event funds go to the baseball programs at Rogers State University and Claremore High School.
