Jérôme Boateng: Spectacular return to Germany? “I still want to attack” | Sports

That would be a transfer for the HSV history books!

Soccer world champion Jérôme Boateng (34) is currently under contract with the French club Olympique Lyon. However, his working paper expires in the summer. What happens to the two-time Champions League winner afterwards? In a “Sky” interview, the ex-Bayern star made statements that made you sit up and take notice.

Boateng is doing modestly this season. Various injuries threw the former Munich player off track, most recently he was often not even in the squad, although he is healthy. Now the native of Berlin commented on his future – and built a bridge to the former club HSV (from 2007 to 2010 with the Rothosen).

In an interview with “Sky” Boateng said: “I noticed that many fans would like me to return to HSV. I’m very happy about that and I can only say that I don’t rule anything out.”

And further: “I’m not thinking about the end of my career for a long time, I want to attack again in the summer and have only good memories of Hamburger SV. This club with these fans and this beautiful city belongs in the premier league. I hope that HSV will be promoted.”

In 2007, at the age of 18, Boateng moved from his youth club Hertha BSC to Elbe for a transfer fee of 1.1 million euros. The then HSV coach Huub Stevens (69/from 2007 to 2008 in Hamburg) thought a lot about the 1.92 meter giants.

In 2010, Boateng went to Manchester City for 12.5 million euros and a year later to Bayern, where he shaped an era (including two Champions League victories).

Whether an HSV return would actually come about is rather questionable. Hamburg recently relied on young players with potential to develop. Even in the event of promotion, the club will probably not deviate from this concept. A Boateng therefore does not really fit the profile.
