In Mallemort, the archery competition was a great success

The first “special youth” archery competition was organized this Saturday, January 14, in the former Mallemort gymnasium, by the local club. For Marc Ricq, its dynamic president, this event made it possible to release a new shooting wall composed of 11 targets over the entire width of the gymnasium. “I think this first competition is a real success, I received a lot of encouragement from the participants,” he confided.
It must be said that the 62 young archers from 9 clubs in the department had responded well from Istres, Aix-en-Provence, Marignane, Saint-Martin de Crau (the largest delegation), Ventabren and Marseille. The Pays Salonais was also very present with Pélissanne, Salon-de-Provence and four representatives from Mallemort: the chick Raphaël Menguy who finished fourth in his category (he scored 225 points), Hugo Laporte, second as a debutant (250 points), Timeo Reggiani , for its part, ranks 20th with a score of 182.

A growing club

Finally, in level 2 girls, Océane Montadon finished fifth in her category (209 points).
Remember that this competition, suitable for young people, with a beginner’s bow only, consisted of shooting 10 ends of 3 arrows in order to obtain more than 240 points out of a total of 300 to go to the next level. The beginner chick level offers a 122 cm target at 10 meters, level 3, a 122 cm target at 15 meters, level 2, a 80 cm target at 15 meters and level 1, a 60 cm target at 15 meters. 15 meters.
As for the Mallemort competition, 22 archers exceeded 240 points and will therefore change level on a similar next event.
Marc continues by thanking his team of volunteers: “We were able to count on 14 people present from the morning for the installation. They also lent a hand on the registry: verification of licenses, entry of results, for the refreshment bar, lighting, the time counter, on the targets. I would also like to thank Bruno Laquay, elected official for sports, Elisabeth Gérardin, president of the Departmental Archery Committee 13 and Hugues Granveau, head of the youth commission on the same committee, for their presence”.
Finally, he took the opportunity to talk about his club, which has registered a total of 30 archers to date, including 14 young people and 16 adults: “registration is still open, with the possibility of choosing a discovery license from March 1”.
This great success should quickly, without a doubt, lead to the organization of other similar events in the months to come.
