“I don’t want the money to go behind bars.” They preferred to transfer the Brazilian star to another prison

The woman who accused Brazilian soccer star Dani Alves of sexual assault will not seek financial compensation from him. People close to the investigation told the Spanish newspaper El País.

The 23-year-old woman is said to only want the 39-year-old player to serve his sentence in prison.

Police arrested Alves on Friday and placed him in custody after a court hearing. According to radio station Cadena Ser, the former Barcelona defender requested the opportunity to testify before the judge again at the weekend because he would like to change his version of events. A judge refused to release him on bail on Friday.

Today, Alves was transferred to another detention center for security reasons. According to the Catalan authorities, the new facility is divided into smaller units, in which it is easier to ensure safe conditions for the detainees, among whom there are both those already convicted and those who have just been remanded in custody.

The unnamed woman accused Alves of groping her under her underwear against her will while visiting a nightclub in Barcelona in late December. The footballer denied any wrongdoing, saying that he does not know the woman at all.

During his rich and long career, Alves won 42 football trophies. He won six titles with Barcelona and won the Champions League three times.

He has also been involved in Sevilla, Juventus, Paris St. Germain or Sao Paulo. He played 126 games for the Brazilian national team. The year before last, he won the Olympic gold in Tokyo and last year he took part in the World Championships for the third time in Qatar.

After the outbreak of the current scandal, he lost his engagement with the Mexican club UNAM Pumas.
