On January 11, 2023, the Handball World Championship in Poland and Sweden began. All games will be played in Katowice, Kraków, Gdansk and Plock (Poland) as well as in Jönköping, Malmö, Kristianstad, Gothenburg and Stockholm (Sweden).

The final of the Handball World Championship will take place on January 29th at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena. There is no surprise team in the quarter-finals, there are the usual suspects among themselves: world champion Denmark, European champion Sweden, Olympic champion France as well as Spain, Norway, Hungary, Egypt and Germany.

All groups and the mode of the Handball World Championship 2023 in the overview

A total of 32 nations will compete in eight groups of four. Each team gets for one win two pointsfor a Draw a point. The top three of each group qualify for the four main round groups and take the points from the preliminary round that they scored against their group opponents, who also qualified.

In the main round, the teams play against the three opponents from the other group. The groups meet in the four main rounds A and B on each other, C and D, E and F such as G and H. The top two qualify for the quarterfinals, which are played in a knockout format.
