The competition was expected and the judokas intended to surprise. The two athletes Élisa Baque, 10, yellow-orange belt and Aliin Fierfolle, 11, orange-green belt, passionate about judo for seven years, had been preparing for their fight since their regional qualification where they won 3rd and 5th place respectively.

Happy, Élisa, under 65 kg category, made her family and friends proud, once again climbing on the 3rd step of the podium. Aliin, relieved, can be proud of her and her journey with a great comeback since she also won 3rd place in the under 35 kg category. “They knew how to manage their stress and stayed focused”, declared Andréa, president of the club, alongside coach Frank. “They were beautiful fights, not easy. I am proud of our young people, not all of them qualified, but they are willing and talented”, she added, saluting Victor Debyser, not qualified, but having impressed by his performances. Finally, the young hope Timéo, 6 years old, mini-chick category, and big winner of the club, recently won 1st place during his meeting in Perpignan.

“We are now at 6 medals for the Gruissan club! Judo is more than a sport. It is a real method of educating the body and the mind that our young people have understood. They are all winners from there”concluded the president of the Club judo Gruissan.
