Griekspoor of the Netherlands wins his first ATP title

The Dutch Tallon Griekspoor has achieved the first title of his career on the ATP world circuit by beating the French Benjamin Bonzi in the final of the tournament in Pune (India).

He needed, however, two hours and eighteen minutes to end the resistance of his rival, who also aspired to his first title. The Dutchman had won eight Challenger circuit tournaments in 2021, but he had never gone from the quarterfinals at the highest level.

Bonzi took command in the match and scored the first round for 4-6but Griekspoor, firmer on his serve on the hard courts in Pune, came from behind to win the next two sets by 7-5 and 6-3 to take the title.
