Good atmosphere and many athletes dressed up in the San Silvestre de Bizkaia races

Thousands of people from Biscay have participated this New Year’s Eve in the traditional San Silvestre races that have taken place in numerous towns in the territory, such as Bilbao, Barakaldo, Getxo or Durango. These sporting and recreational events have brought together many people and families willing to say goodbye to the year practicing one of their favorite physical activities.

The good weather, with temperatures around 20 degrees although there has been some wind, has meant that the races have been crowded, both with the public and with the athletes. There has been a good atmosphere and many of the participants have complied with the tradition of dressing up or, at least, wearing a Christmas outfit.

Under the watchful eye of volunteers and with the support of the emergency services, the DYA and the security forces, which in many municipalities have closed various streets to traffic, the tests have been carried out without notable incidents.
