Galicia exhibits its talent in La Vermella

The Vermella Court of the As Travesas Sports Complex concentrated the best rackets on the national badminton scene in the sub 13 and sub 17 categories. The talent of the young promises has not disappointed the public in the Ciudad de Vigo National Master, organized by the Rosalía Peixes Vimar School. More than 100 players from 31 clubs competed. He highlighted the excellent arbitration work, which made the competition develop with great fluidity and solvency. Also volunteers and staff made everything go perfectly.

Gonzalo Isabal (CB Huesca), Guillermo González (CB Collado Villalba) and Xulia Otero (CB As Neves) won double titles. Thus, in the under 17 men’s singles, the victory would go to the historic CB Huesca at the hands of Isabal, who defeated the Balearic Islands player from CIDE Alejandro Yacarov in the final by a narrow 21-18 and 22-20. Both, as a couple, would defeat the San Sebastian team of another historic club, Aldapeta, 21-10 and 21-14 in the under-17 men’s doubles final.

In the under 17 women’s section, the women’s singles title would go to Itziar Barcala (CBA Estrada) and the women’s doubles, for Paula Noya and Alba Prada (San Amaro) from A Coruña. The mixed doubles would travel to Asturian lands as the couple formed by Alejandro Valdes (Astures) and Laura Garijo (Oviedo), both from the CTD of the Principality, defeated the Navarrese from CB Pamplona by 21-14 and 21-9.

As for sub 13, Guillermo González (CB Villalba) and Xulia Otero (CB As Neves) would dominate the competition, winning first with the victory in the men’s singles and in the mixed doubles together with their clubmate, Celia Díaz, while the Nevense she would take the title in women’s singles and women’s doubles together with Maia Freire (San Amaro) from A Coruña. The men’s doubles would be dominated by the brothers Iago and Xoel Álvarez (CB As Neves).

The best performance from Vigo and Rosali would be the third place obtained by Álvaro Gómez and Sara Alfaya in mixed doubles under 13 and the fifth place in the men’s singles by Álvaro Gómez himself.

The awards ceremony was attended by Abel Caballero, who reaffirmed his commitment to a sport that came to Spain through Vigo thanks to Luis Miró. Also present were the president of the Galician Badminton Federation, Rodrigo Sanjurjo; the Councilor for Sports, Manel Fernández; the president of Club Escola Rosalía, Jesús Gómez, and Eleuterio García.
