Gabriel Caballero is out as Mazatlán coach; the first dismissal of 2023

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico. – Patience ran out after only three games in the tournament and with a scandalous 6-0 win against América last Saturday, Mazatlán FC announced the departure of Gabriel Caballero as coach, being the first coach dismissed from the Clausura 2023 in the MX League.

Through a statement, the Pacific team reported that Gabriel Caballeo, Chaco Giménez and the entire coaching staff are detached from the institution and it will be Christian Ramírez, director of Basic Forces, who will remain in charge of the project.

Arriving at the Cañoneros bench in March 2022, Caballero led the team to the Repechage for the first time as twelfth place in the table, being eliminated on penalties against the Puebla Strip. However, for the following semester he was unable to replicate that result.

In the Clausura 2023, Mazatlán marches as the last place with three defeats in the same number of games. In their debut they fell on a visit to Atlas, then it was Santos Laguna who beat them in the Kraken and finally the win against the Águilas at the Azteca Stadium that cost Gabriel Caballero his job.

The Mexican nationalized Argentine, who was a World Cup player with El Tri in Korea-Japan 2002, leaves the Lighthouse Team with a balance of 7 wins, 11 draws and 11 losses, which is equivalent to a effectiveness of just 36.6 percent.
