Sandro Schwarz will continue to train Hertha BSC next week. Before the Berlin derby against city rivals Union, managing director Fredi Bobic gave his coach a job guarantee – regardless of the outcome of the game.

First a 1: 3 at VfL Bochum – and then this devastating 0: 5 against VfL Wolfsburg: It only took two games in the new year to cause unrest in the Hertha environment again. The most recent appearance last Tuesday raised doubts about coach Sandro Schwarz, who only came to Berlin in the summer but has not managed to lead Hertha out of the bottom of the Bundesliga table since then.

The old lady has not finished 13th throughout the season, Hertha is currently penultimate. A situation that draws a lot of criticism and also provokes questions about black.

However, the 44-year-old was keen to set his sights on football when asked about his future ahead of the derby. “The way we played football during the week was a moment of shock. We have to react to that in the derby today. We have to regain stability,” said Schwarz in a Sky interview before the game and then replied when asked if he was worried about his job: “No. The confidence is there as far as the boys are concerned. We should think about the game and not what the consequences could be afterwards.”

So Schwarz has no doubts that he will still be a Hertha coach next week. An attitude that also has to do with the fact that managing director Fredi Bobic stands by him. When the former Bundesliga striker was asked before the derby whether he would stick with black even if Hertha were again without points after the game, Bobic replied: “Absolutely.”
