During the English week, Serge Gnabry jets to Paris Fashion Week. The excursion is not well received by coach Julian Nagelsmann. When the social media channels are full of photo shoots, at some point the arguments go to waste, criticizes the FC Bayern coach.
JUlian Nagelsmann has no problems with Serge Gnabry’s detour to Paris Fashion Week – if the national player’s performance is right. “In general, I’m convinced that a player can do whatever he wants in his free time,” said the FC Bayern coach on Monday in Munich. “It is important that the right answer is always on the pitch.”
Gnabry, 27, rushed to Paris for a trip to the fashion fair at the weekend, published pictures of photo shoots in unusual outfits on social media. There are no requirements for leisure activities, said Nagelsmann. Nevertheless, Gnabry is under observation on Tuesday (8.30 p.m. / Sat.1 and Sky) in the Allianz Arena against 1. FC Köln. Because Nagelsmann could not hide his displeasure with the action.
“I have to justify certain days off or plans to my bosses and argue why Sunday was free or why we don’t train after a 1-1 draw,” said Nagelsmann three days after the Leipzig game. “Of course I will at some point – when the social channels are full of various shootings, the chain of arguments whistle and then it’s about bringing the answers on the pitch. Then it doesn’t matter whether you’ve been to Paris or not.”
The Munich coach pointed to Gnabry’s role as an employee – albeit in a different salary dimension. “In general, as a normal employer, you cannot tell your employee that he has to go to church at 10 a.m. on Sunday, have lunch at 12 p.m., take a nap at 2 p.m., and at 4 p.m. Leopard, Löwe & Co. are on ARD see,” said Nagelsmann.
“I think it’s important that everyone can spend their free time in a way that makes them happy. But it has to be beneficial to your job. As long as the answer fits on Tuesday, I’m fine with it. If it doesn’t fit, it’s not okay for me,” Nagelsmann explained. Gnabry has had good experiences with 1. FC Köln as opponents. The winger scored eleven times in nine Bundesliga games against the Rhinelanders.
