Lthe workers of Just TV They will return to demand an improvement in their salary and working conditions with a second strike this Sunday during the Atlético de Madrid-Barcelona League after this week they still did not reach an agreement with TBSC Barcelona Producciones, a subsidiary of Telefónica, in the mediation carried out by the Government of Catalonia.

Ace, the template of TV only, made up of about 90 workers, not being active from 7:45 p.m. (CET) this Sunday until 11:45 p.m., which means that it does not cover the important League game that the Catalans will play at the Cvitas Metropolitano from 9:00 p.m.

“Since we are with Telefónica (2015) we have had a loss of purchasing power of more than 20%. Since then we have frozen salaries,” he explained to EFE Ernest Mendez, president of the company committee This means that, to this day, some basic salaries of workers do not reach 1,000 euros.

In addition, Bara TV employees also complain about their working conditions: break times are not respected and agreements regarding overtime are not complied with, among other aspects. “Many times the workers have had to advance money to go to work outside the home and, in some cases, it has taken months to recover it,” says Méndez.

“The offers that they are making us do not even reach the minimum for which negotiations could begin. So we have no other choice but to go the way that nobody would have liked to go: the strike,” continues recounting the president of the company committee

In fact, as EFE learned, one of Telefónica’s latest proposals was an increase in salaries by 2023 in exchange for the cessation of wage and labor protests. The Bara TV staff it refused to assess it because, in addition to considering the increase insufficient, it was not willing to accept a maneuver that they consider sought to “shut up their mouths.”

Telefónica’s contract with FC Barcelona for the club’s television production ends next June and the will of the vast majority of the workers is that it not be renewed and that they end up forming part of Bara Studios, the audiovisual production company of the azulgrana entity This option is contemplated from the offices of the club chaired by John Laporta.

Bara TV costs FC Barcelona around 7.9 million euros annually. Most of it, 6.4, is paid to Telefónica to take charge of the channel’s production and the rest, 1.5, are used to have the DTT multiplex.

The first strike, held on December 31 during the Barcelona derby between Barcelona and Espanyol, was supported by 100% of the Bara TV workers, according to information from its company committee. “I hope there won’t be a third, a fourth or a fifth strike. But if they have to come, they will come,” warns Méndez.
