Dodgers sever ties with Trevor Bauer

A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Friday that the 31-year-old right-hander has been designated for assignment, which means the Dodgers have seven days to release or trade him.

If the winner of the Cy-Young trophy in the National in 2020 is released, the Dodgers will still have to absorb the $ 22.5 million remaining in the gunner’s contract.

After careful consideration, we have decided that he will no longer be part of our organization.the Dodgers said in a statement.

For his part, Bauer mentioned in a press release thatafter two weeks of conversations regarding my return to the organization, i sat down with the dodgers executives in arizona yesterday, and they told me they wanted me to come back and pitch for the team this year.

While I’m disappointed with the organization’s decision today, I appreciate the support I received from the Dodgers locker room. I wish the players the best and can’t wait to get back to the action elsewherehe continued.

The Dodgers had until Friday to put Bauer’s name on the roster, in accordance with Major League Baseball (MLB) rules. The team has rarely commented on the thorny issue since Bauer was placed on forced leave, while remaining paid, in July 2021.

Commissioner Rob Manfred suspended Bauer for 324 games for violating MLB’s domestic violence and sexual assault policy after a San Diego woman said he beat and sexually abused her in 2021.

Bauer maintained he did nothing wrong, saying everything that happened between him and the woman was consensual. The principal concerned has never been accused of a crime.

The Players Association filed a grievance on behalf of Bauer. A three-person panel led by independent arbitrator Martin Scheinman began hearing the case last May.

In a ruling released Dec. 22, Scheinman announced a 194-game suspension rather than Manfred’s original 324-game sanction. He reinstated Bauer immediately.

Scheinman claimed that Bauer violated MLB policy. He withheld his salary for the first 50 games of 2023, covering part of the period the pitcher was on paid leave in 2021-22.

The Dodgers organization believes that allegations of sexual assault or domestic violence should be thoroughly investigated, with due process afforded to the accusedthe team said in a statement.

The Dodgers added that they will cooperate fully with Major League Baseball’s investigation and are strictly following league regulations regarding domestic violence and sexual assault.

Two thorough reviews of all available evidence in this case, one by Commissioner Manfred and the other by a neutral arbitrator, concluded that Mr. Bauer’s actions warranted the longest suspension of an active player in our sport. for violating this policyconcluded the Dodgers.
