Differences with judoka Shamil Borchashvili settled

“Robert (Krawczyk; note) will be in charge with me in the future,” Shamil Borchashvili announced his new head coach in December.

Less than four weeks later, everything is different again. “The main responsibility remains with head coach Yvonne Bönisch,” explains sports director Markus Moser in a broadcast by the Austrian Judo Association (ÖJV).

The aforementioned Robert Krawczyk, who has been part of the coaching team since May, will be available for additional technical and tactical units for the Olympic bronze medalist. The retention of Bönisch as the main person responsible indicates that the differences that have recently come to light between the association and Borchashvili have apparently been largely resolved.

As a reminder: Borchashvili wanted to compete at the Masters in Jerusalem without a supervisor. The association then removed him from the entry list.

At the international training camp in Mittersill, which ran until Tuesday, there had been corresponding discussions between the sporting management and the Welser. “My ambitious goal is to win World Cup gold in Doha,” Borchashvili looks ahead to the World Cup, which is about to rise in four months.
