Darmian’s goal Brings The Snake to the Coppa Italia Semifinals

Inter Milan advanced to the Coppa Italia semifinals after beating Atalanta 1-0. Matteo Darmian was the winner for La Beneamata.

Inter Milan host Atalanta at the Giuseppe Meazza in the Coppa Italia quarter-final match, Wednesday (1/2/2023) early morning WIB. The visitors had a chance in the sixth minute.

Duvan Zapata was able to head a Teun Koopmeiners corner kick. However, his header was still wide.

Inter responded through Nicolo Barella’s volley. Barella’s shot did not bear fruit because it was saved by Juan Musso.

The duel then took place fiercely. However, both teams had trouble creating dangerous opportunities.

Dead end, Hakan Calhanoglu tried a long-range shot in the 41st minute. His attempt almost resulted in a goal. The goalposts still saved Atalanta from conceding.

The score remained 0-0 until halftime.

After the break, Romelu Lukaku had a chance. However, his header from a cross from the left was still right at Musso.

Inter were finally able to break the deadlock in the 57th minute. The neat combination of Calhanoglu, Lautaro Martinez and Matteo Darmian dismantled La Dea’s defense. Darmian’s low kick then nestled into the left corner of Musso’s goal.

Atalanta are chasing an equalizer after falling behind. They had a golden opportunity in the 65th minute.

Through a free kick scheme, Jeremie Boga has space in the penalty box. However, his hard shot was narrowly wide of Andre Onana’s goal.

Atalanta confined Inter’s defense in the final minutes. Their efforts to score an equalizer but to no avail until the game is over.

Inter closed the game with a 1-0 win. This result led The Snake to advance to the semifinals.

In the semi-finals, the Nerazzurri await their opponents in the victorious match between Juventus vs Lazio which will be played on 2 February.
