‘Excited about his recovery’ – NFL player Hamlin back in Buffalo

He collapsed on the field after a cardiac arrest: NFL professional Damar Hamlin has now left the hospital in Cincinnati and traveled back to Buffalo. There he will be treated further.
Football player Damar Hamlin (24) was able to leave the hospital in Cincinnati and traveled back to Buffalo. The Buffalo Bills NFL pro, who suffered cardiac arrest in a week-ago game with the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, is now at Buffalo General Medical Center. Hamlin tweeted Monday that he was grateful for the great treatment he received at the Cincinnati hospital. “I’m glad to be back in Buffalo.” There, the doctors and hospital staff would make sure “that I already feel at home.”
His condition was described as stable at Buffalo General Medical Center. “I can confirm that he is fine. And this is the beginning of the next phase of his recovery,” said William Knight, one of his Cincinnati doctors, according to the AP. Doctors say Hamlin has been able to walk since Friday and is eating normal food. “We remain thrilled with his recovery,” a doctor was quoted as saying.
Hamlin had collapsed on the field after a usual defensive action a week ago. His opponent Tee Higgins had unluckily hit him in the chest with his right shoulder, whereupon Hamlin collapsed. The game was stopped when the Bengals were 7-3. TV broadcasts have seen teammates kneeling on the floor in a circle. Several of them cried.
When his team won against the New England Patriots (35:23) on Sunday, which Hamlin watched from his sick bed, he had received many wishes for a recovery. “Seeing the world come together around me on Sunday was truly an incredible feeling,” he wrote on Twitter. “The love you all gave me is the same love I want to give back to the world.” This is bigger than football.
