“I would like to express my condolences to his family and friends. I am terribly sorry for what happened. It will haunt me for the rest of my life.” These are the words spoken in a video posted on social media by the Czech driver Ales Loprais, which invested during the ninth stage of the Paris-Dakar Livio Fassinotti, 69 years of None (Turin). According to an initial reconstruction, Loprais would have hit the man who was taking a photo behind a sand dune. After the accident, as the organization of the Paris-Dakar announced, and from him, Loprais withdrew. “Devastated by the unfortunate accident – they add on the social pages – the Czech driver immediately made himself available to support the local authorities in their investigations. As a result he was unable to continue the race. The rally organizers join him in offering their condolences to the viewer’s family and friends.” “A human life was wasted and it was my fault because I was driving,” added Loprais. In the comments under his post, his fans instead exonerate him, blaming what happened on the victim.
