Cross-country skiing: Jouve mates the monster Klaebo at Les Rousses

A resounding feat. In the rather confidential world of cross-country skiing, a man has for several years shown a talent that places him at the top of the hierarchy of his discipline: Johannes Klaebo. But on Saturday, in front of a tricolor audience of Les Rousses totally committed to the cause of French cross-country skiers, the leader of this French team, Richard Jouve, winner of the small sprint globe last season, brought down the Norwegian master, during the classic sprint ahead of it by a tenth of a second.

At Les Rousses, Richard Jouve took control almost from the start, never to let go and resist the return of Johannes Klaebo, reigning Olympic champion in the event. At the end of a fiercely contested race, the 28-year-old Frenchman launched his ski ahead of the Norwegian legend to claim a 4th individual victory, a week after having signed a success with Renaud Jay in the team sprint and a second place in the individual sprint in Livigno (Italy).

This success proves once again the rise in power of the locomotive of the Blues which had imposed itself in December in Norway in the absence of Klaebo. A more than promising performance less than a month from the Planica World Championships (February 23-March 5).
