Nothing debut!
For Cristiano Ronaldo (37), Thursday is actually the first competitive game for a club since November 6 of last year.
At that time, the Portuguese was still the captain of Manchester United in the 3-1 defeat by Aston Villa. Following the defeat, however, followed the inglorious Zoff-Theater with coach Erik ten Hag (52), which ultimately led to Ronaldo’s departure.
The five-time world footballer is now under contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr and, after his pompous performance on Tuesday, should celebrate his debut in the league against Al Ta’ee just two days later.
But nothing will come of it!
As the English newspaper “Daily Mail” reports, Ronaldo may not be used in the Al Ta’ee kick.
The reason: a ban from the Premier League.

On October 9, Ronaldo won 2-1 away at Everton with Man United. When leaving the pitch, Ronaldo freaked out and slapped the mobile phone out of the hand of 14-year-old Everton fan Jacob Harding.
Less than a month later, the English Football Association fined him almost €57,000 and suspended him for two games for this action.
It’s just stupid that Ronaldo couldn’t serve out this suspension for ManUnited anymore. He terminated his contract with the Red Devils just a few days later during the World Cup.
That’s why Ronaldo has to watch Al-Nassr for the time being. Article 12.1 of the FIFA Statutes states: “Any disciplinary sanction of up to four matches or up to three months imposed on a player by the previous association but not (entirely) served at the time of the transfer must be canceled by the new one association with which the player is registered so that the sentence can be served at national level.”

That should surprise the fans of the Saudi Arabian leaders in particular. They had counted on Ronaldo’s debut. The 28,000 tickets for the game against Al Ta’ee quickly sold out. So far, the stadium has not been full for any other home game.
Ronaldo is expected to make his league debut against Ettifaq FC on January 21. The game is again a home game for Al-Nassr. Then the fans should really be able to admire Ronaldo on the lawn.
