Coupe de France: no surprise, Ligue 1 clubs hold their rank

Despite varying fortunes, the Ligue 1 clubs emerged intact from the Coupe de France matches on Saturday afternoon. While Reims logically won (3-0) at Les Herbiers (National 2), Lorient had to go through penalties to win against Bastia (Ligue 2). Earlier in the afternoon, Olympique Lyonnais had disposed (3-0) of Chambéry (National 2), thanks to a hat-trick from Alexandre Lacazette. In the clash between elite clubs, it was Toulouse who won against Ajaccio (2-0).

Lorient got scared

In the hottest match of the afternoon, Lorient was very scared: ahead on the hour mark thanks to Ibrahima Koné (65th), the Hakes saw Bastia come back ten minutes from time (81st) , thanks to Joris Sainati on a corner. But the penalty shootout was quieter, thanks to two premature failures from the Corsicans, which propelled them into the round of 16 (0-0, 4-1 on pens). While waiting for Angers to move to Olympique de Strasbourg (8:45 p.m.), the elite clubs have all held their rank.

With goals from Folarin Balogun (37th, sp), Alexis Flips (64th), then Martin Adeline (87th), Reims indeed made a serious copy, despite a nice revolt from the Herbiers at the end of the matches.

For the TFC, everything changed in the space of five minutes against Ajaccio: while the match had been very tight until then, the Violets struck twice, thanks to Zakaria Aboukhlal (65th), on an offering from Thijs Dallinga, then by Rafael Ratao (69th), with the same man in charge.

PFC carton

The afternoon card came from Paris FC (Ligue 2), which joined the knockout stages of the Coupe de France for the first time in 40 years, crushing (4-0) Chamalières, resident of National 2. Club from National 3, Plabennec also saw his fine career come to an end against Grenoble (Ligue 2), who scored very early on by Amine Sbaï (11th) then managed his lead (1-0). The players from Grasse (National 2) believed in the feat until the end, pushing Rodez (Ligue 2) on penalties. But it was the last named, not without fear after two failures, who ended up winning (0-0, 4-5 tabs)

In the advanced match of the afternoon, supposed to be played outside but indeed at Groupama Stadium, Olympique Lyonnais largely won against Chambéry (3-0). If the match will have allowed Alexandre Lacazette, author of a hat-trick (11th, 33rd, 67th), to fill up with confidence and the young Bradley Barcola (20 years old) to show himself, it will not have been of any reproach . Dominating at the start of the match, the Savoyards, without complex, will have forced Anthony Lopes to several decisive parades and showed a very good face.
