Ostend received another visit from Alexander Blessin for the relegation topper against Seraing, that coach who let the coastal team play football so frisky for a while.
The presence of the German in the stands seemed to inspire KVO, because the home team was certainly lord and master before the break. After an early goal by Bätzner – a clever cross shot – Ostend was able to play football from a seat, Seraing barely managed to create a chance worthy of the name.
It was very flattering that the visitors reached the break with a draw. Mvoué scored just before the break, with Seraing’s first opportunity. A big damper for KVO, which had dominated until then.
The home team was also in charge in the 2nd half, although Seraing did manage to put more pressure on the opponent. Still Ostend was the most eager, with a hard working Ambrose and an eager Sakamoto frantically looking for a 2nd goal.
But just like before the break, KVO was in the knife. Fifteen minutes before the end, Vagner actually scored 1-2 from the edge of the box. To make matters worse, Urhoghide and substitute D’Haese both got red in less than 2 minutes. With nine, it was impossible for Ostend to save another point.
A painful home defeat for KVO, which remains at the bottom with a 0 out of 9. Seraing may pass on the red lantern to Zulte Waregem, which will receive KV Mechelen on Sunday.
