Chris Weidman’s return is coming

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman prepares for his first fight in almost two years.

Despite the severity of the injury, “The All-American” made it clear from the beginning that he intended to fight again. Now, Weidman will once again immerse himself in combat sports through Polaris Pro Grappling.

The American has not competed in professional grappling since the 2009 ADCC World Championships. There he lost a decision to Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard André Galvão and was submitted by Vinny Magalhães.

Undoubtedly, will be looking for a better result when he faces Owen Livesey. The Englishman is a master of judo (for which he won a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games), wrestling and submission grappling. In his last appearance for the promotion, Livesey submitted to Hunter Colvin in November 2022. Before that, however, the judoka frequently dominated on the canvas.

Para Chris Weidmanthis will be a grueling test of how well he has recovered from his devastating leg injury. Against an experienced grappler with less physical wear and tear like Livesey, the former middleweight champion will be the underdog.
