Los Grandes del Beisbol announced the first awards of the 2022-2023 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Closer of the Year, Producer of the Year and Set up were the first three awards to be given this Sunday.

Closer of the Year

Anthony Castro of the Leones del Caracas was named Closer of the Year, the right-hander adding 43 points in contention for the award.

Castro was the leader in saves this season for the LVBP with 13 victories in the Regular Round.

According to Los Grandes del Beisbol, this award is calculated by giving three points per game saved, two for each win, and two are subtracted for each loss or for each wasted save opportunity.

Set Up of the Year

For his part, Yapson Gómez of the Cardenales de Lara won the Set Up of the Year award.

The pitcher worked in 26 games, being the maximum number for the team from Lara. Gómez finished the regular round as the tour leader in holds, with 11.

The pitcher added 35 points to win the Set Up of the Year award.

producer of the year

José Rondón of the Caracas Lions was named Producer of the Year by sweeping 289 points in the voting.

Rondón was the best of the 2022-2023 season by leading the lines of: scored with 53, walks with 31 and bases reached with 115.

He is the fifth long-haired to win this award in the LVBP.
