Bundesliga: Mainz – BVB 1: 2 – Salvation in the last second: REYNA REIN! | Sports

Last minute rescue!

BVB wins 2-1 in Mainz after a very weak game. The hero of the evening is called Giovanni Reyna (20)! As in the 4:3 against Augsburg, the American scored the decisive goal – this time very late!

Very loud to hear on TV Alarm siren in the middle of the BVB game!

90.+3 minutes: Reyna pushes a header from substitute Haller over the line after a corner. Victory for BVB!

Julian Brandt (26) on Sky: “It was very emotional. We have to work hard for victories. I think it’s outstanding that we’re rewarding ourselves for that.”

Before that Borussia plays without a living!

It is frightening that without Mats Hummels (34) and Jude Bellingham (19) almost nothing comes together at Dortmund. Coach Edin Terzic (40) surprisingly leaves Hummels outside because he got hit. Bellingham has to sit out because of a yellow card suspension.

Without their top players of the last few weeks, BVB’s shaky defense (before that they conceded nine goals in three league games) eats up the next thing after just 91 seconds!

2. Minute: After a corner from the left, Lee is completely free to head the ball and puts the ball perfectly into the short corner. The early 1-0 for Mainz!

The Dortmund reveal once again bad defense weaknesses. This time, winter newcomer Ryerson (who came from Union for five million euros) simply does not go into a header duel. But just 113 seconds later, the Norwegian corrects his mistake!

4. Minute: Ryerson is not attacked, pulls flat from 20 meters. Fernandes deflects the ball so that it hits the bouncing Dahmen untenably.

The lucky lightning equalizer for Dortmund! But nothing more is coming for a long time. In contrast to the “only” defensively weak 4:3 against Augsburg, the attack is now also a yawn. Moukoko, Malen and Adeyemi remain completely pale.

But: Substituting Sebastien Haller (28) brings momentum. The striker comes to the applause of the BVB fans in the 62nd minute and has the first chance. And in the end he sets up Reyna’s last-minute winner!

Mainz is now six games without a win. Dortmund, on the other hand, are only five points behind Bayern.

Niklas Süle (27): “We didn’t twiddle our thumbs in Marbella. We worked hard to make something else possible. If we can get a series going now, we’ll see.”
