But the Dane knows the Bundesliga – he has played 107 Bundesliga games in total, including with Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen. In 2017, Delaney moved from Copenhagen, in which he went through several youth teams, to the Weser and made 49 games for Bremen. Then it was on to BVB. Dortmund let the Danish star cost 20 million euros at the time.

In November 2021, Delaney left the Bundesliga and signed a long-term contract with the Spanish first division club FC Sevilla until June 30, 2025.

Delaney is now returning to the Bundesliga after less than 24 months.

Delaney: “I’m happy to be here in Hoffenheim and back in the Bundesliga. I want to make my contribution to ensuring that we as TSG are successful again.”

Hoffenheim’s sporting director Alexander Rosen (43): “Thomas has proven in all his previous positions that he is a real leader. With his way of playing football and his qualities as a leading player, he brings important components that we are currently lacking due to injuries, among other things.

Next says Rosen. “Through his time at Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund, he knows exactly how the Bundesliga works and what is required in it in order to be successful.”

After the loan of striker Kasper Dolberg (25/Nice) and ex-Wolfsburg player John Anthony Brooks (30), the Kraichgau strike a third time before the end of the winter transfer (Tuesday, 6 p.m.).
