Randy Levine, who has previously been nominated deputy mayor of New York and state Deputy Attorney General at the United States Department of Justicehas served as president of the New York Yankees since January 2000. During his tenure, the Yankees have built the new Yankee Stadium and was one of the founders of the YES Network, the largest regional sports network in the United States, subsequently spearheading the negotiations in the sale of 80% of the network to 21st Century Fox and, in 2019, in the purchase of YES Network from Disney Company.
Levine, who over the years has held strategic and important roles in the US sports scene, led the process of international expansion of the Yankees brand, which saw the launch of the partnership with Manchester City Football Club in 2013. An agreement that led to the joint acquisition of Major League Soccer club New York City Football Club (NYCFC), which began competitive activity in 2015 buying Andrea Pirlo. From 1995 to 1997 he also held the role of chief negotiator of Major League Baseball and in 1996 he negotiated the agreement which for the first time included the distribution of profits, the luxury tax and games between franchises belonging to different leagues.
