Brignone second and Bassino third in the Super-G of St.Anton – Ski

Another amazing day for the blue jet girls with two Italians on the podium: Federica Brignone 2/y in 1.17.41 and Marta Bassino 3/y in 1.17.45 without forgetting Elena Curtoni 4/y in 1.17.78. It happened in Austria in the second super-G of the St. Anton cdm held on the entire track of the ”Karl Schranz” track. For Brignone, after Friday’s victory, it’s the podium n. head of the discipline classification with Elena Curtoni who thus gave her the red bib of the leader. Curtoni is however third with 190 points, immediately behind Gut-Behrami – the winner of this super-G in 1.17.26 who has 192 and that is only two more. As in Saturday’s, also in this super-G the race was decided in the final stretch of the track where you had to push trying to keep not the straightest line but the fastest.

“Below, in the final stretch, I wasn’t able to push as I would have liked or at least as much as I had done in Saturday’s race,” confirmed Brignone. “In the final part, the snow was softer and I wasn’t able to get good speed. to attack her – Federica added with her thoughts now turned to the next races in Cortina. For her it was in any case an excellent weekend: I am very satisfied. Now there are 5 home games in 6 days and in Cortina I have never managed to climb on the podium, for which it is a good goal for me”. “So – concluded the blue – I will almost feel compelled to perform, after the fourth place in the super-G as a matter of cents last year and the downhill in which I had done some good things. Getting on the podium in Cortina would be a dream, I arrive there in good shape and I will try to give my best”. Marta Bassino was also very happy third on one of her ”favorite tracks”, on the podium in ST. Anton even two years ago. ”Team results like these give you energy”, added the Piedmontese. For Italy – the Gardena sisters NIcol and Nadia Delago are out due to a goal jump, then there are Roberta Melesi 21/a in 1.19.67, Karoline Pichler 22/a in 1.19.69 and Laura Pirovano 23/a in 1.19 .73,

The women’s world cup is now back in Italy, in Cortina d’Ampezzo, for three quick races. And Sofia Goggia will be back, absent today as a precaution after the fall on Saturday. The program includes two descents and a super-G from Friday to Sunday, with the first descent recovering St. Anton. In the Swiss special slalom – tormented in the first heat by the heat and by a very angled layout and in the second by a sudden heavy snowfall he won – 30th cup victory, second of the season and third on this slope after 2016 and 2017 – the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen in 1.51.18. With him on the podium the Swiss Loic Meillard in 1.51.38 and the other Norwegian Lucas Braathen in 1.51.67. No podium for Italy but still a satisfactory result. The best was once again the constant Lombard Tommaso Sala 8/o in 1.53.63 despite a back pain that has been afflicting him for some time. Then, 10/0 at 1.54.19, there is a very motivated Alex Vinatzer. Also in the standings Simon Maurberger 20/o in 1.55.60 and Giuliano Razzoli 26/o in 1.57.12
