The selection committee to decide which schools will participate in the 95th Selected High School Baseball Tournament (opening on March 18th at Koshien Stadium) was held in Osaka on the 27th. Tokushima) and Ishibashi (Tochigi) were selected.
After that, the general selection frame will be announced in order from Hokkaido, and a total of 36 schools will be decided.
This year there are four more schools than usual, as the tournament is held every five years. Tohoku (2 → 3 schools), Kanto (4 → 5 schools), Tokai (2 → 3 schools), and Shikoku (2 → 3 schools) will have more participation slots. The school (Kinki increased by 1 frame due to Osaka Toin’s victory) is the same as usual.
The tie-break system introduced from the 2018 tournament (a system in which the meeting starts with runners on base for the purpose of early settlement of the match) is currently 12 innings and 13 innings if no settlement is reached. 1st and 2nd base starts without death, but from this tournament it will be accelerated to the start of the 10th inning, and will be adapted at the same time as the overtime.
The entrance marching song is “I Love You”, the theme song of the NHK TV series “Maiagare!”
