Bokor wins the Young Ladies Wild Card Challenge for the second time – ÖTV

Two NÖTV players decided to win the Young Ladies Wild Card Challenge in the Froschberg tennis center on Sunday. 22-year-old Veronika Bokor (TC Bakl Weigelsdorf), who had already dominated in 2020, won the final against 23-year-old Alina Michalitsch (UTC BH Wr. Neustadt) 3:6, 6:4, 6:2. In the semifinals, Bokor prevailed against 18-year-old Claudia Gasparovic from Lower Austria, Michalitsch was successful against 17-year-old Johanna Hiesmair from Upper Austria. The now two-time Challenge winner Bokor thus secured a wildcard for the qualification for the WTA 250 tournament Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2023, which takes place from February 5th to 12th, 2023 in the Design Center Linz. Michalitsch, on the other hand, receives a main competition wildcard for an ITF W15 tournament in Austria.

Tournament director Sandra Reichel, ÖTV sports coordinator and Billie Jean King Cup captain Marion Maruska and Co. were highly impressed by the level of the almost two-hour final. Maruska’s summary: “Veronika Bokor was the more active player who tried to take over the pace. She still won the second set after a 4:2 lead and a 4:4 debut, in the third set Alina Michalitsch was out of breath. In general, the Young Ladies Wild Card Challenge is a very important event for us because we want to offer the local talents a platform to present themselves on a national and international level.” For this reason, the entire competition was broadcast live oetv.tv transfer.
