On January 2, the 24-year-old suffered cardiac arrest during the first quarter of a matchup against the Bengals in Cincinnati. After several days of hospitalization at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, he was transferred to a hospital in Buffalo and later discharged.

“Damar is now in our facilities almost every day,” McDermott said Wednesday at his daily press conference. That’s excellent news.”

“He’s trying to get back into a routine and acclimatize again. It’s going step by step, one small step at a time.”

In 2022, Hamlin played his second NFL campaign. Drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL amateur auction, the safety has totaled 91 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks and a forced fumble in 15 games this season.

Hamlin’s teammates are preparing to face the Bengals on Sunday in the second round of playoffs. The Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 34-31 last week in their first one-night stand.
