On Sunday, Noah Mbamba (18) watched his new teammates beat Copenhagen 1-0.
The new winter signing from Bruges was allowed to play for the Werkself for the first time on Monday afternoon. And in a game with the pros, against their own U19.
Mbamba played alongside Kerem Demirbay on double six. His team won 5-0 with goals from Demirbay, Zidan Sertdemir, Amine Adli, Karim Bellarabi, Sardar Azmoun (foulelfer). The internal training game with a team of referees lasted 2 x 30 minutes.
Compared to the U19 players, Mbamba (1.87 meters) was particularly noticeable because of his physical presence.
Xabi Alonso wants to wait and see whether Mbamba can quickly become a topic for the matchday squad. “He’s only 18 years old, didn’t have any competitive games until December,” says Leverkusen’s coach, but lets it be known: “If someone is good enough, then…”
