Basketball, great winner of the intense and exciting CSB Kings Tournament

A total of 180 players, divided into fifteen teams -belonging to three clubs from three different autonomous communities- played thirteen games this Tuesday at the San Andrés Sports Center during the almost nine hours that the successful inaugural edition of the Club Soria Basketball Kings Tournament lasted. . The CSB Campofrío junior men’s team, the Caja Rural de Soria Blanco CSB cadets, the women’s cadet Las Rozas Basketball Club, the Men’s Children’s CSB A, the women’s children’s Las Rozas Basketball Club and the 2014 Benjamins of the Basketball Club were proclaimed champions. Las Rozas from Madrid. Three of the teams from the Logrobasket Club of Logroño (La Rioja) also enjoyed such an intense day of basketball and coexistence.

CSB Campofrío achieved victory in the last match of the day, the one that faced the junior men’s team of Club Soria Baloncesto with Logrobasket from La Rioja. The only two titles that were decided in a single match were this one and that of the youngest category, in which Club Baloncesto Las Rozas beat the wrestler CSB Benjamin Mixto Trebia. The smallest of the participants in the I Kings Tournament (boys and girls between seven and nine years old) received the loudest ovations from the large audience that throughout the day populated the stands of the San Andrés Sports Center and closely followed the evolutions of nine teams from Club Soria Baloncesto, three from Logrobasket and another three from Club Baloncesto Las Rozas.

The level of people from La Rioja and from Madrid is reflected in the fact that both clubs have several representatives in the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Cadet and Children’s Teams that is being held these days in the province of Huelva. Up to six components of the La Rioja team (four cadets and two children) belong to Logrobasket and the Madrid women’s team has two players from Club Baloncesto Las Rozas. The teams from Madrid were far superior to those of Club Soria Baloncesto in the I Kings Tournament. Neither the junior team of CSB Martínez and Tribez nor the cadets of CSB Caja Rural de Soria had any option of jeopardizing the title of the cadet group of Club Baloncesto Las Rozas.

Also the children of the Madrid entity – all of them first year – beat both the CSB Infantil Femenino and the cadets of the CSB Caja Rural de Soria without appeal. The CSB Caja Rural de Soria Blanco men’s cadet team beat CSB Caja Rural de Soria Negro by one point and became champion thanks to their victory against Logrobasket. The CSB Infantil Masculino A followed a similar path: they beat the CSB Infantil Masculino B by three points and secured first place by clearly defeating the Infantil Logrobasket. The I CSB Kings Tournament came to an end with the awards ceremony for the six champion teams, the family photograph of all the participants and the hope that Club Soria Baloncesto could give continuity to this event in the future.
